Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) named a 12-man squad for the Asian Rugby Qualifiers of the Rio Olympics to be held in Hong Kong this weekend. Sri Lanka fields a well seasoned team with the inclusion of top performers such as Fazil Marija, who stepped down as the Sevens skipper last month, Srinath Sooriyabandara, Sandun Herath, Dhanushka Ranjan, Nigel Ratwatte, Anuruddha Wilwara and Richard Dharmapala. Sri Lanka competes in Pool ‘B’ alongside Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines and Iran while in Pool ‘A’ Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore and Chinese Taipei will contest. On Saturday (7) Sri Lanka’s first game will be up against Iran at 9.00am, followed by their second game against Malaysia at 12.45pm. Sri Lanka will take on hosts Hong Kong at 6.20pm on the same day with their final Pool game is set to be played on Sunday (8) at 11.30am against Philippines. Sri Lanka 7s squad: Richard Dharmapala, Kanchana Ramanayake, Srinath Sooriyabandara, Sudharshana Muthuthanthri, Shenal Dias, Sandun Herath, Hirantha Perera, Fazil Marija, Nigel Ratwatte, Gayan Weeraratne, Anuruddha Wilwara, Dhanushka Ranjan.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
