Sri Lanka will play in the Cup semi-final against their biggest threat Hong Kong while South Korea and China are slotted play in the second semi-final when the third and final Leg of the Asian Sevens Rugby Series kicks off for the second day in Colombo on Sunday (16).
Sri Lanka finished second in Pool 'B' after beating Chinese Taipei 26-7 and thrashing Singapore by 66-0 but were stunned by China 14-24 in the crucial final first round game.
China topped the pool with an unbeaten record after overcoming Singapore by 34-5 and Chinese Taipei by 28-0.
Hong Kong lost their opening game against Malaysia 14-19 but beat South Korea 26-15 and Japan 31-12 to secure the top spot of Pool 'A'.
South Korea only lost to Hong Kong and beat Japan by 45-14 and Malaysia 29-14 to finish second in the group.
Japan will take on Chinese Taipei in the first semi-final of the Plate segment while Malaysia takes on Singapore in the other game prior to the Cup semis.
