The Sri Lanka Under-19 team will leave for the ICC Under-19 Youth Cricket World Cup to be held in Bangladesh in the early hours of Friday (15).
The tournament will begin on January 27 and will come to an end on February 14 with the final.
Besides Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, hosts Bangladesh, Canada, England, Fiji, India, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe will compete for the ICC Youth World Cup.
Australia withdrew their Under-19 team reasoning security concerns as Ireland came in as a replacement.
Allrounder Charith Asalanka leads the Sri Lanka Under-19s which include Sammu Ashan, Kavin Banadara, Salinda Ushan, Avishka Fernando, Wanindu Hasranga, Kamindu Mendis, Charana Nanayakkara, Damitha Silva, Thilan Nimesh, Jehan Daniel, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Vishad Randika and Lahiru Samarakoon.
The official team include Ranjith Madurasinghe (Chairman Selector/Manager), Shane Fernando (Assistant Manager), Roger Wijesuriya (Head Coach), Avishka Gunawardene (Assistant Coach), Dharshana Gamage (Bowling Coach), Ajantha Wattegama (Physiotherapist), Dharshana Weerasinghe (Trainer), Wasantha Haputhanthirige (School Master) and Sarath Chandra (Security Liaison Officer).
