A large stock of counterfeit MAPED stationery items were seized from a shop in Pettah by a team of officers from the Criminal Investigations Department. This action was initiated on a complaint made by the French Company MAPED of 530, route de Pringy 74370, Argonay, France.

Maped is a name synonymous with stationery and has made a strong impact in the school and office accessories markets throughout the world including Sri Lanka, and offers optimum quality to consumer requirements, lawyers for the company said.
The CID team seized a large quantity of counterfeit Maped stationery including pencil packs, colour pencil packs and study math sets.
Representative of the company confirmed that the counterfeit items seized at the raid were of substandard quality while the original Maped stationery is child friendly and conform to the rigorous safety standards.
The seized counterfeit items had a number of safety flaws such as sharp and rough edges, loose screws etc, lawyers said.
The owner of the shop containing the counterfeit items, was arrested and released on bail. |
