A Taiwan-based computer monitor brand, AOC, which recently entered the Sri Lankan market, plans to become the number two seller locally in segments in which it will compete by December 2010, according to a statement which quoted the Chief Executive Shafraz Hamzadeen of the brand's sole authorised distributor, eSys Technologies. Additionally, AOC monitors, comprising LCD technology, will be available locally "from Rs 12,500 onwards".
Said to have sold over 49 million monitors globally in 2009, AOC indicates that it is the largest provider of computer monitors to computer manufacturers in the world with 45-50% of international market share while eSys Technologies suggests it currently powers "one in two computers sold in Sri Lanka", according to Yaasir Nissam, Group General Manager, Finance and Operations, EZY Holdings; parent of eSys Technologies. |
