Mr Suriya Bibile, the Country Manager Edexcel, UK was also present at the occasion.
Professionals in the industry and the BTEC HND qualified QS alumni of BCAS had participated in the event with much enthusiasm. The first cohort of twenty six students who enrolled for the top-up degree received mementos from the Chief Guest.
Students enrolled with BCAS for the top-up are considered internal students of the University of Wolverhampton. The lectures for the inaugural batch of students will commence on 17th September at the BCAS' City Campus, Wellawatte. Internet access to the university library and a host of other facilities are part of the course.
Both institutions (BCAS and the University of Wolverhampton) will ensure the highest quality of teaching. This will be achieved by delivering more than 50% of the course modules by the same panel of UK lecturers of the School of Technology, University of Wolvehampton, UK. This has been planned through an innovative 'Flying Faculty' model supported by expert lecturers at BCAS.
Another key feature of the course is its flexibility. For example, if a student wants, he can choose to complete the final semester of the course at the university in UK. This will give him an invaluable international exposure while he experiences the real university facilities and environment. Another option the student can have is he will be able to complete a part of the course at the BCAS campus in Qatar while being employed there full time. BCAS are in a position to assist such students by arranging visas and finding jobs.
There is yet another option for the student to study for either BSc or BSc (Hon) awards provided he commits enough time on research module. These options are of great advantage to the students who may not find sufficient time to complete the dissertation due to personal circumstances and pressure at the place of work.
Yet, the students who choose to complete the top-up degree in Sri Lanka itself will be able to progress onto the MSc in Construction Management/Project Management at the University of Wolverhampton, UK for just £ 5000 which amount is 50% of the actual course fee. The MSc thus earned will be RICS-accredited which has much value in terms of fast career advancement. |
