Tsunami: National Safety Day at Kattankudy

National Safety Day which is observed on December 26 will be marked with several events at Kattankudy in the Batticaloa district.

The observance of National Safety Day is a means to advise the public on correct procedures to be followed in the event of disasters and to deal with situations such as the tsunami which occurred on December 26, 2004.

The programme will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Disaster Management. Relevant Government institutions will participate at the event.
