Interact lending a hand

By Natasha Fernandopulle

Interact District 3220 organises a number of events throughout the year. Their main aim in organising events is to help the community. And this is where Interflash 09 – Don’t start the revolution without us comes in.

It will be an evening of song and dance which will be organised by Interact District 3220 in aid of the Prisoner’s Children’s Welfare Fund.

“Interflash is an annual project but it wasn’t held during the past two years due to various reason,” said Praneeth Assiriyage (19), Chairperson, Interflash and Shamika Uduwella (19), Project Secretary, Interflash and Finance Director, Interact District 3220. “We will be sponsoring the education of 10 children for the duration of three years,” Praneeth and Shamika said, adding, “The kids will be between the ages of 10 and 14 years.”

It seems that the Interact Clubs will also be involved in this project, and “This is the District’s main financial project for the year,” they said. The District will also be involving the NGO – the Business Children’s Welfare Fund for this project.

The funds remaining will be set aside for a vision camp to be held later in the year, Praneeth and Shamika said. The evening will have a variety of songs which will be performed by Randhir, Sachith, Nemesis and Hollow. And in terms of dance it will be a freestyle dance performance by Lathruas, while the evening will wind up with a papare band!

Interflash 09 – Don’t start the revolution without us will be held on Thursday March 19, 2009 at 6.30pm at the Bishop’s College Auditorium. Tickets will be available at Queens Pool Parlour, Duplication Road, The Commons, Flower Road as well as from Committee Members.
