Gigabyte Booktop available soon

A local company has announced that it will soon introduce a small notebook or booktop which is "92%" of the size of a regular notebook. Branded the “Gigabyte Booktop M1022M 10.1" Small Notebook”, the M1022M is already available in markets such as Australia and has even been favourably reviewed by reputed online resources such as CNET Asia.

No word yet on the local pricing or launch date of the product. However, the product is quoted online as being AU$ 699 (approximately Rs. 70,000), but this price is inclusive of a bundled docking station with six USB ports which allows the computer to also serve as a netbook. The M1022M will be distributed locally by eSys Technologies, a local subsidiary of Dubai-based EZY Holdings.

In addition, the M1022M's product features include: "Intel Atom N270 mobile Processor, 1GB of DDR 11 memory and a 2.5” 160GB SATA hard drive which is upgradable to 320GB. It also features Windows 7 Starter... [And] supports Draft N Wireless Lan 802.11n, the fastest Wi-Fi connection currently available".

According to a eSys Technologies statement, the company which was started in 2004, became "the largest distributor for computer components in Sri Lanka within a span of 6 years" and it is "financially robust with over US $ 3.5 million invested in infrastructure and products". Further, the company also suggests it has access to "more than 1,000 sales points across the country".
