A new logo and an organizational structure were introduced to the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka recently. FITIS is the foremost umbrella organization representing the entire information and communications technology field in Sri Lanka. FITIS consists of many institutions in the Sri Lankan ICT chapter. Its new logo depicts the computer hardware chapter, the software chapter, the computer training chapter, the internet services and telecommunications chapter, and the professionals' chapter.

FITIS Chairman Govind Nangrani said that FITIS changed its' logo and the organizational structure to successfully fulfill the new necessities and face new challenges in the fast growing ICT industry. Sri Lanka has arrived at a new era of economic prosperity, and in building a knowledge-centric economy, the ICT industry has a major role to play, he said.
Introducing the new logo, FITIS Chief Executive Officer Damith Hettihewa said that his organization, together with the Information and Communications Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) is playing a major role in increasing the contribution of the ICT sector to the National economy. He said that year 2010 is 'the Intel Year' and many programmes have been planned for the year. The 'Mini Infotel Jaffna' exhibition planned for February takes pride of place among the projected programmes, he said. |
