ICASL top ten awards held in style to reward the deserving

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, the premier national accounting body of the country conducted its Top Ten Awards ceremony on May 11, 2010 at the ICASL auditorium.

At this annual event the ICASL awards full scholarships for students who ranked top ten in the G.C.E Advanced Level examination from all four educational streams of Commerce, Science, Mathematics and Arts. This is a noble event conducted by ICASL to uplift the standards of education in the country by providing opportunities for those who have reached the pinnacle of success in the field of education.

The chief guest was the Western Province Educational Director Mr. J.A.D.L Hemachandra who expressed the value of this event which has a long term positive impact on the nation's educational field. Speaking at the occasion the President of ICASL Mr. Sujeewa Mudalige commented that ICASL is truly committed towards enhancing the potential student body in the country and that events of this calibre are clear examples of this aim; furthermore he stated the Institute intends to execute more programmes towards emphasizing the pivotal importance of education for the youth in the country.

The scholarships offered to the 40 high achievers are certainly exceptional as they are enrolled to a globally recognized qualification. The ICASL scholarship gives an opportunity to the student to carve out the talents bestowed in him towards the creation of a fully competent accountant.

Expressing his ideas on the event ICASL Chief Executive Officer Mr.Aruna Alwis stated that the ICASL scholarship is as valuable as a diamond among gems in the sphere of local education since it covers a broad syllabus of theoretical and practical knowledge.

He added that ICASL students are required a mandatory training period in affiliated organizations which number over 800 for a period where their talent is tested in practice which is a most unique feature.
The ICASL is a highly recognized accountancy qualification in Sri Lanka which has produced over 4,000 members that excel all over the globe reaching significant heights in their careers.

Therefore this scholarship award would be an excellent opportunity for the minds of tomorrow to join hands with and build a stable foundation for their careers. This event has been an annual event in the ICASL agenda and is a pivotal part of its corporate social responsibility.
